Today, while scrolling through NoFilmSchool, a video caught my eye. We had just been introduced to the prompt of our final project, so when I saw a video about how to generate creative ideas, I couldn't resist watching it.
Shimpei Takahashi is a toy maker from Tokyo who was having trouble thinking of new ideas for toys. So, instead of twiddling his thumbs and waiting for an idea to magically come to him, he came up with a game that helped get his creative juices flowing. The game is called Shiritori. All you have to do is think of three words, each new word beginning with the letter that that ended the previous word. For example:
puppY -> YoyO -> Octagon
This strategy not only makes you think of random ideas that you may not have otherwise, but it also can give you a crazy new idea for a video. Like a sad puppy that doesn't understand why his octagon yoyo doesn't work properly.
This idea may not seem very logical at first, but if you give it a try, you may end up with some awesome ideas!
